Conference Theme: Proper Names in Text and Discourse
For many years, linguistic research has increasingly focused on higher levels of communication, such as text, genre, discourse, and style. Linguistics serves as a scientific discipline through which we gain a deeper understanding of humanity, society, and culture. Language is not examined as an isolated phenomenon but rather as a tool for exploring ourselves and the world in its complexity and diversity. We aim to investigate the role of proper names in this process and how the onomastic potential of language manifests in various areas of communication.
We propose that both theoretical and methodological as well as empirical issues serve as the guiding themes of our reflections and discussions. Suggested topics include:
- Onomastics in relation to text-centered subfields of linguistics: textology, genre studies, discourse analysis, stylistics;
- Onomastics of discourse — scope, areas of research;
- The scope and tasks of literary onomastics;
- Onomastics and the linguistics of memory;
- Proper names in various types of texts and styles — historical and contemporary perspectives;
- The onomastic sphere in different discourses, both historical and modern;
- The impact of proper names on the pragmatics of text and discourse;
- Proper names in relation to inclusivity in communication;
- The dynamics of certain discourses (e.g., media discourse) or communication domains and their connection to the onomastic aspect of language;
- Links between the proprial sphere and contemporary communication phenomena (digitalization, egalitarianism, artificial intelligence, etc.);
- Proper names and idiolects (of writers, poets, journalists, politicians, celebrities, etc.).
